Happy blueberry season, humans! Not only does the sweet fruit taste delicious to dogs, but blueberries also have a ton of health benefits for your pup. They’re packed with antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory properties, and the list goes on. Here are some of the best blueberry-based treat recipes we could find (we won’t judge if you snack on some, too).

1. Blueberry + Coconut Oil Biscuits (20 min)

4-Ingredient Blueberry Dog Treats
Sprinkles and Sea Salt

This four-ingredient recipe is so easy to make—you probably have them in your pantry already! The coconut oil can help improve your pup’s skin and coat quality, as well as improve cognitive function. These treats freeze well so make a big batch and freeze some so you will always have a delicious treat on hand.

2. Blueberry Peanut Butter Bites (40 min)

This super snack is loaded with antioxidants and protein from the peanut butter, to keep your pup full and energized. When baking these up, you’ll know you got it right if they smell just like a PB&J sandwich. When mixing these treats try not to leave large pieces of blueberry. The high water content will shorten the shelf life on these treats. If your pup has some stinky breath you can add some (optional) parsley to these treats to help freshen their breath.

3. Yogurt and Berry Pupsicles (10 min plus time to freeze)

Gemma’s Bigger Bolder Baking

These icy treats are loaded with awesome probiotics from the yogurt, which will help balance the healthy bacteria in your pup’s belly. The strawberries are also packed with antioxidants, fiber and vitamin C. Both strawberries and blueberries are great fresh fruit choices for your pup, but since strawberries are higher in sugar this recipe calls for more blueberry than strawberry.

We design your dog’s ideal meal plan! Freshly cooked, delivered to your door!

4. Blueberry-Apple Biscuits (35 min)

These treats contain fiber-packed oats, applesauce (which you can feed your pup as long as it’s sugar and preservative-free) and are full of vitamins A and C. Depending on the size of the scoop you use to scoop out the dough, this recipe yields 3 to 4 dozen treats. That’s enough that you’ll have plenty for your pup but you can also give them as gifts. Try putting a handful of treats in a small mason jar tied with a pretty bow.

5. Blueberry Goat Cheese Crackers (30 min)

Unless your pup is lactose intolerant, cheese is totally okay for them to snack on (in moderation!) In addition to the benefits of the blueberries, these treats contain basil which has antioxidant, antiviral and antimicrobial properties. You just might be tempted to toss some of these Spelt flour-based crackers on your own cheese plate. Better yet, plan a picnic with your pup and pack some treats you will both enjoy.

6. Peanut Butter and Jelly Squares(30 min plus additional freeze time)

These fancy-looking layered treats contain some of your pups’ favorite ingredients including peanut butter, yogurt, bananas (which are full of manganese, potassium, and fiber), and of course berries. They will live in your freezer for about a month so you can always have an ice-cold treat on hand for your best friend.

7. Gluten-Free Blueberry Cookies (20 min)

Lola The Pitty

Got a gluten-sensitive pup? These treats are made with almond and rice flour so they won’t upset stomachs–and they contain extra virgin olive oil, which can actually help dogs lose weight, as well as improve their immune function. The creator of these treats was so smitten she ate a few herself. You could certainly share this snack with your pup as a great bonding activity.
