How to Travel With Ollie, Wherever You Go

When humans hit the road, we sometimes have to sacrifice the quality of the food we eat (aka our green smoothies are replaced with McDonald’s pit stops.) But your pup doesn’t have to make the same unhealthy choices, and probably shouldn’t. Sharply transitioning your pup’s diet can lead to tummy troubles – not exactly how you want to spend your trip with your pup.

In order to keep your pup’s diet consistent, you will have to do a little planning before you skip town! We’ll tell you all about how to keep your pup enjoying their favorite flavor of Ollie on the road – no matter how long or short your trip may be. Add packing your pup’s food to your travel list along with bringing a collapsible water bowl and carrier.

Here’s how to make traveling with Ollie easy:

In the car or on a train

Stash enough food for the time you’ll be away in a cooler bag with ice (you can use the packs we send, and even wrap it in our recyclable jute for a longer trip!) You can also store more Ollie in the freezer before you leave to help it stay colder for longer when you’re in transit.

Taking Ollie on an Airplane

Flying? Bringing Ollie on a plane should be treated the same as human food (it shouldn’t be a problem!) We’ve flown with trays on national flights, without an issue. If you’re flying internationally, though, check with the carrier’s policy is about bringing fresh food on board.

Ship your Ollie to your final destination

If you don’t want to deal with transporting the food, or you are taking a longer trip away from home, we make that stress free too. Let us know where to send your pup’s food and we will ship it to them anywhere in the continental United States.

To change the delivery address all you have to do is go into your account page 4 to 7 days before you arrive and we’ll make sure it gets to your destination in time. If you are staying with family or in a hotel, you might want to give them a heads up that the food is coming. Some coworking spaces that accpet packages may also be able to assist you if you want to have Ollie shipped there, but be courteous and ask first.

Storing Ollie in your hotel room

Before check in, request an empty mini fridge for your room. Some hotels will provide these free of charge, but others may have a small daily fee. Either way, it will be a great way for you to keep your pup’s food cool and safe until it’s time to chow down.

Having your pup’s regualar meals with them will help them enjoy time on the road. For dinner al fresco consider spreading their Ollie on a Licki Mat or stuffing it in a Kong so they have something to do while you wait for your meal.

Any other questions about traveling with your pup’s favorite food? Give our support team a call or email us and we’ll be happy to lend a hand (or paw)!
